USA Travel Warnings
What you need to know before starting your trip.
You will notice that the US is basically trouble free, but there is a constant treat of terrorist attacks, that could target civilians or places usually visited by foreigners. The hurricane season normally runs from June to November, and can affect the whole of the southern USA. Be particularly vigilant in public places.
The time between March and November is infamous for forest fires, in many dry areas of the United States, especially on the West Coast. Currently the terror alert is high, as stated by the US Department of Homeland Security, applying to flights from the UK to the US. When entering the country, do not be surprised if you will find security checks at airports and public buildings.
It is strongly recommended to obtain comprehensive travel and medical insurance before traveling. Starting 6 November 2006 you can carry liquids, gels and aerosols in 3 ounce (or smaller) containers in a small zip-top bag. The website www.tsa.gov is available for more information regarding the allowed and forbidden objects. This advice is based on information provided by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in the UK.
