Once a small fishing village, San Francisco has blossomed into a stylish town, with a population soaring to more than 800,000.
San Francisco was founded in 1776 and is currently known as one of the most vibrant town in the U.S. San Francisco is also the financial capital of the West Coast and the commercial access gate for the Pacific.
One of the monuments the city is best known for, the Golden Gate Bridge has been called one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World.
Slightly larger than Central Park, the Golden Gate Park is a urban retreat, with carousels, windmills, museums and numerous green oasis.
The Palace of Fine Arts is an important destination, with various sculptures and Roman or Greek architectural styles. For the kids, the San Francisco Zoo is a great places to see penguins, elephants, llamas or tigers.
Fisherman's Wharf lures many tourists, with a great variety of seafood and street entertainers and the Aquarium Marine Museums. The Asian Art Museum, along with music, theater venues, the Symphony and Opera can be found in San Francisco's City Center.
Located in the Northwestern corner of the city, the Lincoln Park offers great views of the bridge, the ocean and of the city.
