One of Asia’s most cherished cultural treasures, China is a vast country in a different world. From classy metropolises with countless attractions to the countryside and desert landscapes, China has 33 UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The country is also of paradoxes, starting with the skyscrapers from Beijing or Shanghai to the rural provinces where technology barely hit. The civil war in 1945 defined the China of today. Beijing is currently undergoing a huge investment program, being the host for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
